I've spent most of my evening eating oatmeal raison cookies and listening to Interpol on loop, how did I go 9 months listening to K-pop alone? I don't know the answer(except that K-pop is frickin' awesome) but I've really missed the genius that is this band, perhaps I merely tell people my favourite band is The YYYs out of manic loyalty and respect for all 3 of them(and Imaad Wasif of course) but honestly, I must admit I've grown to love Interpol a *little* more. I can't help it, you have to give it to a group that sings about oral sex and fellatio while making it sound subtle and romantic. Observe:
Every song they produce is so fucking perfect that it makes me want to cry. I used to title my blog after them as some sort of (lame attempt) at a tribute, but I got too many hits from people trying to find porn that it became sort of awkward.(Is it my fault that my favourite line of C'mere has the word 'erotic' in it?)But enough about that, Pam went off on a tangent in our convo during GP and started ranting about how wants me to actual talk about myself instead of DBSK or whoever because quoteunquote "SO MUCH STUFF ABOUT THEM, WHATS THE POINT? MIGHT AS WELL CALL IT A FANSITE RIGHT?" and then she started hating on my dragons, but hey can't please everyone ~
(Okay, I swear I typed out a few lines, but it sounded awkward, so I'll do this talking about my life thing another time. Raincheck k. Going to drink some redbull and hit the books. Its not too late for me, I hope. I PRAY WHAT SHE SAID WAS REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY KAY, or I will crai. )
I frequently think about what the 100 songs I would pick if in the distant-but-not-too-distant future, we live in one of those 1985 dystopian societies and our music choices were restricted and I usually never get past choosing more than 30 because I get frustrated at having to make a choice, but for those who care about my taste in music, here are a few of my list. For those who don't...uh, move along now. (I've only picked songs I've loved for more than 3 years, just so make sure they can stand the test of time)
This song will Never lose its charm for me, I've loved this song for years and I've never once forwarded past it on my playlist. My first Yeah Yeah Yeahs' song, but isn't that to be expected? I loved it so much that the hype at the end 2004/early 2005 didn't even irritate me in the least, I was just happy that this amazing song was getting the recognition it deserved(even if it meant I would see it if I turned on MTV later in the evening, but hey, the goddess that is Karen O said that she wants World Domination, and what KO wants, KO gets) How much do I love these 3? Too much maybe. KO is fantastic, Always, knackered on stage or not. Brian makes me feel safe for some reason and Nick, OH NICK ♥ I loved you for a very long time, NICK you are perfect, don't ever change(especially not your hair)
Nothing comes close to this. I always feel like I could lie on my back and listen to this forever. I know lots of people say Day 1/6, First Breathe After Coma or Your Hand In Mine are their best songs, I could never understand that, their best song to me has always been Magic Hours and will probably always be.
OH MY GOSH, did this song get so fucking over-played at one time or not? It hurt it really did, seeing people I didn't care for quote this as one of their favourite songs because so-and-so sent it to them. FUCKKKK. It makes me so annoyed for some irrational reason. Its one of those perfect songs that make you want to share it with everyone in spite of wanting to keep it all to yourself.
This song still blows me away everytime.
Patrick Wolf gets too much attention for penchant for shorts, his looks and having a preference for males and not for enough for his music. He is a complete and utter genius. I don't if people say his style, his music and his videos are pretentious, sure they can get a little, but his talent excuses Everything. This song is an exception to the 3 years rule, but I can't help it if I love it more than his pre-2007 stuff. I only ever really got excited about him after the release of The Magic Position when I heard it straight after its release.
The brilliance of this song, like most NMH songs, lies in its simplicity in reference to the actual guitar playing. Mangum usually makes use of the more simple guitar chords and somehow it just works for him. Neutral Milk Hotel always has the most achingly beautiful lyrics and Jeff always sings with such conviction and passion.
When I was much much much younger(circa 2003), this song used to make me bawl my eyes out for no reason. Elliott Smith has many better songs, but I've always been partial to this one song because it was my first song of his and after this, I never looked back. I always get a little upset when I think about his suicide, which is why I can't stand to watch recordings of his lives. But thats quite irrelevant to this discussion, I don't know why I brought it up.
I had a hard time picking an Interpol song, but I decided to stick to C'mere, because its my favourite song off the Antics album. Don't make me compare it to the other albums, they have too many amazing songs. Easily one of my favourite lovesongs, I used to just sit in the dark and listen to this and eat dry froot loops.
And uh, just because I can, this is one of my favourite DBSK ballads. I don't care what you say, DBSK IS ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED GROUPS WITH THE BEST PERSONALITIES. I know this is another exception to the 3 year rule, but hey.
Seriously, I know many of you doubt my love for them but honestly, I'm sure this one performance will clear any doubt in your mind about their singing abilities. I don't know any group that could sound this beautiful live. I've never understood how they could ever have any anti-fans, they are so likeable, funny, honest, talented and so so so hardworking. I will love them 10 years from now and probably always will. If you love me, you will watch this one video.
DORA I KNOW YOU DIDN'T LISTEN TO THE SONG I SENT YOU MONTHS AGO, SO YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE ONE HERE IF YOU LOVE ME. I doubt you'll like this song, but you have to know why I like it just like how I understand your love for Manson even though I'm not fond of him. (And Neeta, Kalan Porter is not the only attractive person on this blog! Watch this video kay, they are all goodlooking(to me) especially three of them. Heh.
